POST VIRAL SYNDROMES 🦠:
We’re learning a lot about COVID long haul and how it mimics chronic illnesses like mast cell activation syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome. But, there are MANY viruses that can create long haul symptoms through periods of activation. These viruses also serve as a trigger for autoimmune disease and frequently occur with other chronic illnesses like Lyme Disease and mold related illness. I’m excited to start sharing about viruses that create long haul syndromes, starting with a discussion on 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜’𝗺 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗜𝗗 𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝘂𝗹:
🦠SUPPORT VASCULATURE: COVID damages the micro vessels that deliver oxygen to tissue, creating symptoms like hair loss. (I support this with a supplement called Endocalyx Pro that you can find in my favorites if you’re a member of my Wholescripts dispensary)
🦠REDUCE INFLAMMATION: COVID also up regulates inflammatory pathways that can contribute to loss of smell. I use curcumin, therapies like red light, and natural products that reduce intracellular free radicals (like hydrogen water), to help reduce inflammation.
🦠BALANCE HORMONES this virus disrupts the HPA axis so whenever there is lingering fatigue, I’m checking thyroid, adrenal, and often sex hormones
🦠ADDRESS INFECTIONS COVID activates many types of infections that could be latent. I commonly check for other viruses, fungal, bacterial and gastrointestinal infections in long haulers
🦠TREAT IT LIKE A CHRONIC DISEASE when all else fails, long haul should be approached like a chronic illness with a focus on reducing mast cells and modulating inflammation
