The power of simplicity….. It is easy in today’s busy life to get caught up in everything that we need to do and get done. Run, run, run, go, go, go… The easy pattern to then fall into is to reach for something outside ourselves to ‘fix’ any imbalance that this busy life produces. Sugary snack, coffee or energy drink to keep going, glass of wine
or two to relax, Aspirin for that headache, antacid for heartburn…… and the list can start to grow. And the physical imbalances start to show up. And if we are really busy, we won’t really notice those little nagging imbalances until they really grab us and shake us for our
attention. It can seem that the symptoms show up out of nowhere….. when they really started from the side effects of being busy…… not drinking enough water, breathing shallow, eating fast and not really chewing the food completely. The good thing here is the power of simplicity:
1. Breathing deep and slow
2. Drinking a glass of water or two
3. Taking the time to chew your food completely.
These may not seem like very big things to do, but they are! Very powerful ….Not doing these are some of the reasons that got you right smack in the middle of feeling bad today. So just for today, pick one thing to focus on and do it. Keep reminding yourself to breath deep even though you are rushing to do everything that you want to get done. We can be masters of the multitasking….so for today put yourself on the list as something to do….. drink water, breath deep, chew your food until it is a liquid. Decide. Decide today. When you really decide to put yourself on the ‘to do’ list…somewhere near the top…you will start to find the power within yourself to make the change in your life to be the person that you want to be. The power of the simple means that it is simple to do and it is what your body truly wants. The power of these starts simply and grows as you do them. Drink water, breathe deep and slow, and chew your food. Start with baby steps today, be gentle, and keep coming back to the truth. Welcome to the power of you!
