This panel is a look at cardiovascular health, metabolic syndrome and diabetes risk. Cholesterol testing has historically been used as the standard of care for cardiovascular disease where they look at the HDL (the happy healthy ones) or LDL (lousy ones). But, it is actually not the cholesterol in these that is the problem. So measuring total cholesterol, HDL, and LDL’s alone does not provide the complete picture and can be very misleading.
